Kaylee’s Hypnobirthing Story
My lovely friend Kaylee has kindly agreed to share her experience of hypnobirthing and how she had an unplanned home birth!
Hypnobirthing was a huge help to me and my husband, I was so calm and unworried, just visualising the surges as waves. I had a walk in the park in the sunshine with my hyno tracks on and just felt so calm and chill! I spent the morning watching Disney then early afternoon had a bath and went to my calm place, then I suddenly transitioned - decided "baths were stupid" and I needed to get out immediately. I automatically just flipped into Hypno breathing, I'd practised so much I wasn't even having to think about it. We went to go to the birth centre but my body just knew I shouldn’t get in the car. As soon as I went back inside my waters broke and everything ramped up. Thanks to hypnobirthing we weren't even worried about a solo homebirth, my husband Alan knew all about the birth process and what was happening. He delivered my little boy just before the ambulance arrived, no painkillers or anything. I was sat on the bathroom floor in a daze!
My second child was a planned homebirth and we did have a midwife present this time - and she brought gas and air! I made a cosy nest with fairy lights and cushions and my birth ball. Spent the morning watching Emily in Paris then she was born early afternoon in our cosy homebirth den.
I can't recommend hypnobirthing enough, it completely changed my perspective on birth for me and my partner.
